Trend Reports

Who Sets Product Trends?

Who decides green is out and beige is in?

Why are dragonflies suddenly appearing on so many products? Is a wide, short candle clumsy and odd, or the newest "must have" tabletop accessory? Why should you care what some anonymous fashion guru says is good taste, anyway?

While there is no one right answer for the first questions, the last one is very important. If you are the designer or maker of a product you hope to sell in the US market, you need to know just how significant product trends are to your potential success.

That is where Crafts Center's Product Trend Report comes in.
If you were systematically to visit every booth in major international trade shows, look at hundreds of catalogs, trade publications and magazines, review images on dozens of Internet websites, analyze color forecasts for their applications to products, talk to the top buyers and designers in the industry, you would begin to see certain patterns emerging: what is already saturating the market and on its way out; what is strong and still growing in popularity; what is new and cutting edge; what is great for a particular niche in the market; and so on. If you have this information and use it to make decisions about developing your own products, your chances of successfully selling in the US market go way up.
