Internship Program
Posted: March, 25, 2005

The Crafts Center provides interns with a unique opportunity to learn about the work and lives of low-income artisans around the world. Past interns with multi-disciplinary interests in areas such as: anthropology, international development, cultural preservation, women's issues and indigenous crafts have found this internship to be especially rewarding.

We are currently looking for volunteers for the following projects:

  • Updating the Crafts Resource Database
  • Funding research and proposal writing
  • Assisting with database conversion and 2005 online membership directory
  • Developing content of website pages advertising the goods of new members

Minimum requirements: Qualified individuals will have excellent research, writing, analytical and organizational skills.

Additional helpful experience: Foreign languages such as Spanish and French are a plus. Experience with Raiser's Edge, HTML, Quark, and Microsoft Word is also helpful.

While this internship is unpaid, previous interns have successfully arranged to receive course credit through their universities. A minimum time commitment of 8-12 hours/week is expected.

To Apply: Interested candidates should fax or mail a cover letter with resume to the Crafts Center, 8601 Georgia Ave., Suite 800, Silver Spring, MD, Fax: (301) 587-7315, craftscenter@chfinternational.org.
